Installation Instructions – Step by Step

Tools & Materials Needed:

• PEX tubing cutter

• Copper tubing cutter

• Emery cloth or wire brush (for cleaning copper pipe)

• Torch, flux, and lead-free solder (for sweating copper)

• PEX crimp tool or clamp tool (depending on system used)

• Copper crimp rings or stainless steel clamp rings (sold separately)

• Go/No-Go gauge for crimp connections

Step 1: Prepare the Copper Pipe

1. Cut copper pipe square using a tubing cutter.

2. Clean the pipe end with emery cloth or wire brush until shiny.

3. Apply a thin, even layer of flux to the outside of the copper pipe.

Step 2: Sweat the Copper Connection

1. Insert the copper pipe into the female sweat end of the elbow.

2. Heat the joint evenly with a torch until flux sizzles.

3. Apply lead-free solder; let it flow into the joint.

4. Allow the joint to cool naturally.

Step 3: Prepare the PEX Tubing

1. Cut PEX tubing squarely with a PEX cutter.

2. Slide a copper crimp ring or stainless steel clamp ring over the tubing.

Step 4: Connect the PEX Tubing to the Elbow

1. Insert PEX tubing fully onto the PEX barb of the elbow.

2. Position the crimp or clamp ring 1/8"–1/4" from the tubing end.

Step 5: Secure the PEX Connection

• Copper Crimp Rings: Use a calibrated PEX crimp tool; verify with a Go/No-Go gauge.

• Stainless Steel Clamp Rings: Use a clamp tool until fully secured.

Step 6: Inspect & Test

1. Confirm all connections are seated and fastened.
