Tips & Tricks – Step-by-Step Installation:

Step 1: Prepare the Copper Pipe

• Cut the copper pipe squarely and remove any burrs using a deburring tool.

• Clean the outside of the copper pipe and the inside of the female brass fitting with a wire brush or emery cloth to remove oxidation and ensure a smooth surface for soldering.

Step 2: Apply Flux

• Apply a thin, even layer of lead-free flux to both the cleaned end of the copper pipe and the inside of the brass fitting. Flux ensures proper flow of solder and prevents oxidation during heating.

Step 3: Solder the Copper Connection

• Heat the fitting evenly using a propane torch until the flux begins to bubble and the fitting reaches soldering temperature.

• Touch lead-free solder to the joint; it should melt and be drawn into the connection by capillary action.

• Ensure the solder flows completely around the joint to create a secure, leak-proof seal.

• Allow the fitting to cool naturally—do not disturb the joint until it has fully solidified.

Step 4: Prepare the PEX-A Pipe

• Slide a PEX-A expansion sleeve or ring onto the pipe.

• Use a compatible cold-expansion tool (sold separately) to expand the pipe evenly. Avoid twisting or uneven expansion.

Step 5: Insert PEX-A Pipe into Fitting

• Fully seat the expanded PEX-A pipe over the fitting barb. The pipe will contract around the fitting and sleeve to form a secure, leak-free connection.

Step 6: Check the Connection

• Ensure the expansion sleeve/ring is fully seated against the fitting and the PEX-A pipe has fully contracted.

• Every connection must be properly expanded; dry-fitting is not allowed.
