1-1/2 in. SCH-80 PVC Socket to Male Threaded Tank Connector BulkHead Fitting Kit ASTM D2467
Create a secure and versatile 1-1/2-inch PVC connection through the wall of a tank, reservoir, container, or other liquid-holding vessel with this 247Garden 1-1/2 in. SCH-80 PVC Socket to Male Threaded Tank Connector Fitting Kit.
This kit combines a 1-1/2-inch Schedule 80 PVC female adapter with a 1-1/2-inch Schedule 80 PVC male threaded tank connector. Together, the components create a convenient bulkhead connection through the tank wall while providing a 1-1/2-inch PVC socket connection on the inside of the tank.
The internal socket allows compatible 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe to be connected directly inside the tank. This gives you greater flexibility when designing tank inlets, outlets, intakes, return lines, drains, and internal distribution plumbing.

How the Fitting Kit Works
The 1-1/2-inch tank connector passes through the tank wall to create the bulkhead connection. The included gaskets provide sealing surfaces against the tank wall, while the nut secures the fitting in position.
The female adapter attaches to the tank connector and provides a 1-1/2-inch socket connection. Compatible 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe can then be solvent-welded into the socket.
The resulting configuration provides:
1-1/2 in. PVC Pipe Inside Tank → 1-1/2 in. Socket → Female Adapter → Male NPT Tank Connector → Tank Wall → External NPT Connection
This allows you to connect PVC plumbing both through the tank wall and inside the tank.
Why Have a 1-1/2-Inch PVC Connection Inside the Tank?
A standard tank connector provides a connection through the tank wall, but many tank plumbing systems require the pipe to extend farther inside the tank.
The internal 1-1/2-inch socket makes this possible.
You can connect a length of 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe directly to the socket and extend the plumbing to the location required by your system.
This can be useful for:
-
Extending an intake toward the bottom of the tank
-
Positioning an inlet farther inside the tank
-
Extending an outlet away from the tank wall
-
Creating an internal return line
-
Directing water toward a specific location
-
Building an internal distribution system
-
Connecting internal elbows, tees, valves, strainers, or other PVC fittings
-
Creating custom intake or discharge plumbing
-
Connecting to an internal manifold
For example, the tank connector can be installed on the side of a tank where it is easy to access. A section of 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe can then be connected to the internal socket and extended downward or toward another location inside the tank.
This provides considerably more flexibility than a tank connector that terminates directly at the tank wall.
Build Custom Plumbing Inside the Tank
The 1-1/2-inch socket provides a convenient starting point for building custom PVC plumbing inside the tank.
A length of compatible 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe can be solvent-welded into the socket and routed vertically, horizontally, or in another direction according to the system design.
Compatible PVC elbows, tees, couplings, valves, strainers, reducers, and other fittings can be incorporated into the internal assembly.
This allows you to design the internal plumbing around the tank rather than being restricted to the location of the bulkhead fitting.
1-1/2-Inch Plumbing Connection
The 1-1/2-inch size provides a larger connection than 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, 1-inch, and 1-1/4-inch configurations.
It is suitable for systems designed around 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe where a larger plumbing connection is required.
The appropriate pipe size should be selected according to the required flow rate, pump specifications, system pressure, pipe length, fittings, and overall plumbing design.
Typical Applications
This 1-1/2-inch SCH-80 PVC tank connector fitting kit can be used for compatible plumbing and fluid-handling applications, including:
-
Water storage tanks
-
Irrigation reservoirs
-
Agricultural water systems
-
Hydroponic reservoirs
-
Aquaponic systems
-
Filtration systems
-
Pump installations
-
Water distribution systems
-
Liquid storage containers
-
Custom reservoirs
-
Equipment tanks
-
Internal tank plumbing
-
Custom intake and discharge systems
Actual application suitability depends on the tank material, liquid being handled, operating pressure, temperature, chemical compatibility, and installation conditions.
Schedule 80 PVC Construction
Schedule 80 PVC features a thicker wall construction than Schedule 40 PVC and is commonly used in applications requiring a robust PVC plumbing component.
The components in this kit are intended for compatible Schedule 80 PVC plumbing applications and are manufactured to the applicable ASTM D2467 fitting standard.
Tank Wall Installation
Install the tank connector through an appropriately sized opening in the tank wall. Position the included gaskets correctly against the tank wall, then install and tighten the nut to secure the fitting.
Do not overtighten the nut. Excessive tightening can deform the gasket, damage the tank wall, or compromise the seal.
After securing the tank connector, install the female adapter onto the threaded connection. The internal socket can then be connected to compatible 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe.
Use an appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement system according to the pipe and fitting manufacturer's instructions.
Support the Connected Plumbing
The tank connector provides the plumbing connection through the tank wall, but it should not be relied upon as the sole structural support for long or heavy pipe assemblies.
If your installation includes long pipe runs, pumps, filters, valves, strainers, or other heavy components, provide appropriate pipe supports. Proper support helps reduce mechanical stress on the tank wall and bulkhead connection.
A Flexible Solution for Custom Tank Plumbing
The key advantage of this kit is the combination of a threaded tank-wall bulkhead connection and a 1-1/2-inch PVC socket connection inside the tank.
Instead of ending the plumbing at the tank wall, you can extend compatible 1-1/2-inch PVC pipe into the tank and build the internal plumbing around your specific requirements.
Whether you need to extend an intake, position a discharge point, create a return line, or build an internal distribution system, the 1-1/2-inch socket provides a convenient connection point for compatible PVC pipe.
