PVC pipe is a strong, lightweight, and versatile material that can be used for more than plumbing. One creative project you can build with just a few fittings is a slingbow. Unlike a traditional slingshot, a slingbow is designed to shoot arrows, making it a fun backyard project for target practice.

With only a few PVC parts, you can create a durable and simple slingbow in less than an hour. You just need a 3/4" tee fitting, a few small piece of 3/4" pvc pipe (two for the barrel and one of the grip and a 3/4" 45-degree to upgrade the handle. And a 3/4" pipe clamp, about 8-12 inch high quality rubber band and a short piece of rope to mount the arrow.

Materials You’ll Need

  • (1) 3/4 in. PVC Tee fitting
  • (1) 3/4 in. 45° Elbow fitting (for the upgraded angled grip)
  • (2) short pieces of 3/4 in. PVC pipe (for the barrel/arms)
  • (1) short piece of 3/4 in. PVC pipe (for the grip)
  • (1) 3/4 in. pipe clamp
  • 8–12 inches of high-quality rubber tubing (latex band preferred)
  • Short piece of strong rope (to tie as the arrow puller)

Step 1: Build the Grip

  • Insert the grip pipe into the 45° elbow fitting.
  • This angled grip provides a more comfortable and natural hand position compared to a straight handle.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame

  • Connect the PVC Tee fitting to the top of the 45° elbow.
  • Insert the two barrel pipes into the open sides of the Tee.
  • This creates the arms of your slingbow where the rubber band will mount.

Step 3: Install the Rubber Tubing

  • Stretch the rubber tubing across the arms of the slingbow.
  • Use the pipe clamp to secure the tubing in place.
  • Ensure both sides are even so your arrow shoots straight.

Step 4: Add the Rope Puller

  • Tie the short rope securely in the center of the rubber tubing.
  • This rope acts as the arrow puller, allowing you to draw and release arrows smoothly.

Step 5: Test and Adjust

  • Grip the slingbow by the angled handle.
  • Place an arrow against the rope puller, draw back, and release.
  • Adjust the tubing length or rope placement for accuracy and comfort.

Safety Note

Always use your slingbow in a safe environment, away from people, pets, or property. This is a DIY projectile launcher and should be treated with the same caution as archery equipment.
